Printer's Tip
Saving Money
If your business is like most, it's imperative to save money when possible. As the price for many of the products we all use has been increasing steadily in recent months, cutting back on expenses is necessary for nearly everyone. Here are some tips you can use to save money and help your dollar spread further.
- Consider switching to a proofless workflow. This will help you save on desktop charges and eliminate the need for hard proofs which are expensive to produce.
- If your printer offers a private label paper, consider using their house stock. If this option isn't available, then see if switching to a lower grade weight is a good alternative for you.
- Keep your mail list updated. This will benefit you for a number of reasons. Starting in November, Standard Mail and First-Class mailers that claim presorted or automated rates will be required to demonstrate that they've updated their mail lists. The Post Office will begin taking away these discounts if lists are not updated. Keeping an updated list also reduces the amount of over-prints and wasted copies.
- Take advantage of your printer's distribution services. Publishers Press offers co-mailing, co-palletization, and drop shipping for both Periodicals and Standard-class publications. These distribution discounts are extremely beneficial and can save you a substantial amount of money on postage and handling.
- Talk to your printer and don't be afraid to discuss different alternatives with them. They should be willing to work with you and will be able to recommend options specific to your needs.
